Training in web writing and editing

When you are taking on the responsibility of web content for your website, it can be useful to understand the conventions particular to web writing. This includes areas such as usability, accessibility, search engine optimisation and hyperlinking.

Web writing is different to conventional writing styles, but can be mastered once you understand the principles of writing successful web content.

Training courses

Along with colleague Alison Savage, I run one-day training courses on 'writing for the web' for The Training Consortium. The courses cover usability, principles of web writing, hyperlinking, accessibility, SEO, electronic newsletters and editing web content. Registrations are open to everyone.

Find out more about the course at The Training Consortium website.

In-house training

If you have specific requirements for your website, have many employees who are stakeholders in your web content, or would simply like to discuss your site in detail and tailor your learnings, then I am very happy to conduct training sessions within your workplace. This involves planning what will be most effective for your training session and delivering it at a time and place that suits you.

Style development

If you are managing your web content in-house, a comprehensive style guide can be extremely beneficial. An in-house style guide can cover processes for content updates, as well as graphical and textual styles. This gives you a consistent and credible website tone that will add immense quality to your website. I can assist you in developing a web style guide that can be complementary to your existing corporate style guide,.
